Wicked is finally in MANILA!! But before anything else, let me "mini" tour you around CCP :) The first three pictures were taken while waiting for the gates to be open. If you're going to watch, make sure you'll make it on time because once you're late even for just a minute, they'll not let you in. You have to wait for the interval time which means you'll miss more than half of the whole show and that is really depressing!! Better early and wait than miss any part of this awesome broadway show!!
The photo above has to d something with Jose Rizal.. I think :) I'm too excited to read what's written on the side!
Oh these cute scale-like sculptures!
And lastly, these 3D paintings... I guess :D
Okay moving on to WICKED.....
"Long before Dorothy dropped in, two other girls meet in the
Land of Oz.One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two unlikely friends end up as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good makes for the most spellbinding new musical in years.
WICKED, the untold story of the witches of Oz, features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin, Academy Award® winner for Pocahontas and The Prince of Egypt) and book by Winnie Holzman (My So Called Life, Once And Again and thirtysomething), and is based on the best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire." - Wicked Facebook Page
Look at the excited crowd! If you watched last January 28, 2014.. you might find yourself above :D
The only photo of the stage I have. Taking photos and videos during the show is strictly prohibited. So YOU.. Yes YOU.. If you want to know what the hype is all about then GO watch it. It might be a little expensive but it is SO worth it. I promise. BUT you have to hurry because there are limited seats available on TicketWorld.
Throughout the show, the stage changes depending on the scene (duh!). They used A LOT of props and very good lighting. Suzie Mathers played the role of Glinda slash Galinda and Jemma Rix was Elphaba. They both portrayed their roles well and their voices were EXTREMELY AMAZING!! How I wish I have that talent in singing too.
*me and my niece during the interval*
My personal favorite part / song was Defying Gravity!! They performed well!! However I was expecting the big black cloth around Elphaba when she was flying during the last part of the song based on the photos I saw online from people who watched Wicked in other countries. Overall, Defying Gravity in Manila was still GOOD!! I liked Popular too!! Galinda was funny during that song which made me like it. Toss, toss!
I can't say anything more because all the casts were good. I've read in one site that this set of Wicked casts are celebrating their 10th anniversary already which means they've been performing their roles for 1 decade already. No wonder why they're all so good in portraying their own roles.
*me mimicking Galinda's pose*
Since the souvenirs are expensive (shirt is around 1,200 and up, programme is 500, key chain is 350 and etc..) I just opted to have a lot of photographs from their exhibit wall. Photographs are enough as souvenirs (well for me since I don't have money though my niece bought a poster) at least I'm in them. I enjoyed posing like the main characters.. I'm not good enough though.
Of course I have to mimick Elphaba also! Haha! My look though... FAIL! Speaking of Elphaba.. she's such a good singer!! He loves her so.. I'm not that girl...
Just chilling with my friends! Haha. I wanted to have a photo with the cast but I think it is impossible because they didn't go out after the show anymore (so these will do).
Here are some of our trio "selfies" :) The original plan was to watch the play with my sister only.. but a day before the play, my 12 year old niece decided to watch with us too. We bought another ticket but there's no available seat beside us already so there's no choice but to seat in a different row. Anyway, we all enjoyed the show! What can you say about our second photo? We were looking where Elphaba is looking! Hahaha!
Let me just include this silly photo of my niece "in" the Emerald City! One short day in the Emerald City...
And lastly, my obligatory pictures with the huge poster of the play :) Can you feel how much I loved it? I'm even planning to watch it again!! I'm also wishing that I can watch Wicked in other parts of the world too! :)
